Maharaja on OTT: Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical rights of the film, which is directed by Nithilan

Maharaja, the recently released Tamil film starring actor Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, is currently running in theatres successfully. The film has been getting positive reviews since its release. While it might take some time for the film to premiere on a digital platform, Netflix has bagged the streaming rights for the film.
Vijay Sethupathi, a much-celebrated actor from the Tamil film industry, headlined his 50th film, titled Maharaja. The film is currently running in theatres successfully with people raving about Vijay Sethupathi’s performance and the screenplay. With the positive reception it has got, the film is expected to run for a few more weeks.

It is also to be noted that we already know that the post-theatrical rights of Maharaja have been secured by Netflix. Going by the standard pattern, Maharaja is expected to stream 4-5 weeks after it made its theatrical debut. Maharaja was released in theatres on June 14 and is expected to be released on Netflix in mid-July or towards the end of the month. However, an official release date is expected to be announced by Netflix soon.
Maharaja is written and directed by Nithilan, who previously made Kurangu Bommai. The film is available for streaming on ZEE5. With Vijay Sethupathi headlining the project, the film also stars Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Mamta Mohandas, Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Vinoth Sagar, Boys Manikandan, Kalki, and Sachana Namidass.
In Maharaja, Vijay Sethupathi plays a barber who goes to a police station to lodge a missing complaint. While the police are confused when he says his dustbin has been robbed, there is more to it than meets the eye. Maharaja is a crime thriller and received positive reception and fair share of backlash upon its release.
The film is bankrolled by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy. Maharaja is shot by Dinesh Purushothaman, with Ajaneesh Loknath scoring the music. Philomin Raj has worked on the edits.
