Mahalaya: Meet the ravishing Durgas on big channels

Mahalaya is upon us, and every channel has been broadcasting its promos of the show. There is tough competition between the channels on how well they can present the Mahishasurmardini on the screen. Usually, a host of popular faces appear as the goddess Durga in these shows. This year Star Jalsa, Zee Bangla, and Colors Bangla have already designed the programme. 

Colors Bangla has Rituparna Sengupta as Durga. This is the actress' first time in the role. She did her shooting with a fever. The show will be broadcast on Sunday at 5 AM. 

Subhasree Ganguly reprises her role from last year as Durga in the Zee Bangla programme. This show is named Singhabahini Trinayani. In a recent interview with OTTplay, she said, “I think I played Ma Durga the most number of times. When I was young while watching Mahishasurmardini on TV I used to pray to god to get a chance of playing Ma Durga on TV. Ma Durga heard my prayer and I have been doing it for years. In 2020, I didn't do it. But Zee Bangla officials say that I am their permanent Ma Durga.”

Meanwhile, Sonamoni Saha, who plays Radhika in the serial Ekka Dokka, will appear as Maa Durga in Star Jalsa. This show is named Ja Chandi. Solanki Roy, Debchandrima, and others are also there.
