The shooting of Karthik Subbaraj's Mahaan was wrapped up last year. From then, there have been speculation about the movie skipping its theatrical release. Fans of Vikram were slightly disappointed about the news though they were waiting for an official confirmation on the same.
The team officially announced its direct-to-OTT release recently. Mahaan brings Dhruv and Vikram together for the first time. Simha, Simran, Aadukalam Naren, Sananth, Muthukumar, Deepak Paramesh and Vani Bhojan play pivotal characters in the project which has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan. The makers have unveiled its teaser, trailer and a few songs recently, leaving Vikram's fans elated.
What's Mahaan all about?
The movie revolves around the journey of Gandhi Mahaan, the son of a teetotaler, who goes on to become the king of liquor empire in Tamil Nadu. His struggles, challenges and the illegal path he embraced during his life forms the crux of the story.
The plot gets thicker when his son grows up and starts questioning his illegal business. Later, the father-son duo takes on their common enemies and hopes to lead a quality life together. The makers had released the character posters of all the prominent actors from the movie recently.
When and where to watch Mahaan online?
The film will release on Amazon Prime Video on February 10. Mahaan is Vikram's first direct OTT release. His last outing was Rajesh M Selva's Kadaram Kondan (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). Shreyaas Krishna and Vivek Harshan have handled the project's cinematography and editing respectively.
Produced by S Lalit Kumar under Seven Screen Studio, the film is releasing in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam under the same title, while its Kannada version has been titled as Maha Purusha.
