Madhavan, who made an impressive directorial debut with the multilingual project Rocketry last year, has signed his next film in Tamil. It's been a while since he has done a straight Tamil movie and it is now official that Mithran Jawahar of Thiruchitrambalam fame has been roped in to helm his next.
The excited director took to his social media page to inform the same to his fans. He tweeted, "After the blockbuster success of Thiruchitrambalam, kicking off my next directorial project starring uber-talented, and fan-favourite @ActorMadhavan. Produced by the acclaimed Mediaone Global Entertainment. Let's Roll! (sic)."
Makers are expected to announce more details on the movie shortly. Fans of Dhanush have wished success to the movie in the comment section as they were super elated with how Thiruchitrambalam turned out to be at the box office. The rom-com was a much-needed hit to the actor, and was one of the biggest Tamil hits of 2022.
The project marked the fourth collaboration of Dhanush and Mithran after Uthama Puthiran, Kutty and Yaaradi Nee Mohini. The performances of the actor, Nithya Menen, Prakash Raj and Bharathiraja along with Anirudh's music were highlights of the film.
Madhavan's untitled project with Mithran, too, is expected to be a feel-good drama, according to sources. The former's previous direct Tamil movie in a lead role which had a theatrical release was Vikram Vedha. He was seen in Maara in 2021, but the film, which was a remake of Mollywood film Charlie, skipped theatrical release.
His last outing was the Bollywood movie Dhokha: Round D Corner directed by Kookie Gulati. The thriller flick had garnered mixed response upon its release.
