Almost a year and a half after its theatrical release, Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu’s political satire Madanolsavam is gearing up to hit an OTT platform. The movie, which is directed by Sudheesh Gopinath and is scripted by Nna Thaan Case Kodu filmmaker Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, had hit theatres in April 2023, but its digital release was delayed, with the producers unable to sell off its OTT rights till now.
The movie, which has a bevy of actors as part of its cast including Babu Antony, Rajesh Madhavan, Swati Das, Rakesh Ushar and PP Kunhikrishnan, is among the most-awaited Malayalam OTT releases in December 2024.
The movie’s OTT rights have been bagged by Manorama Max, which is expected to release the film on its platform in December 2024. An official release date is yet to be revealed. The platform recently also bagged the OTT rights for Suraj’s comedy Thekku Vadakku, which also has Vinayakan. Both movies will be streaming on OTTplay Premium as well.

Madanolsavam follows the incidents that happen in the life of Madanan, who makes a living out of selling chicken. After he is forced to become a dummy candidate, life turns upside down as he tries to reclaim his identity as well as disentangled from the whole mess he finds himself him.
The film’s writer Ratheesh has already proven that he can make effective satires through his works such as Android Kunjappan Ver 2.5 and Nna Thaan Case Kodu. While Madanolsavam is smaller in scale as compared to his previous ventures, the film does reflect the current political scenario – from political parties not being shy to resort to violence to fulfill their agenda to manipulating the electorate in any way they can.
The performances of the lead cast, especially Suraj, Babu Antony and Rajesh Madhavan, also serve to make this satire entertaining.
