MAD was a low-budget Telugu film featuring young actors in lead roles. Initially, not many expected it to succeed, but the comedy caper turned out to be a surprise hit at the box office, giving Narne Nithin, Sangeeth Shoban, and Vishnu Oi a much-needed boost in their careers.
Now, the makers are back with MAD Square, the second installment in the MAD franchise. Directed by Anand Shankar, the teaser opens with one of the friends getting married, only for his three friends to crash the wedding and create chaos. The film promises an abundance of humor, much like its predecessor.
Sangeeth Shoban stands out with his sharp look and impeccable comic timing, while Narne Nithin, Jr. NTR's brother-in-law, impresses as the hot-headed yet entertaining character. Muralidhar Goud also delivers a solid performance as the father, with his dialogue delivery adding to the humor.

By the looks of it, MAD Square is light on story but packed with gags that work effectively. The last shot of the teaser, where Sangeeth slams his phone while saying “bye,” perfectly sums up the film’s tone. While the first part revolved around college life, romance, and friendship, the sequel shifts focus to a wedding, with a small crime element also woven into the narrative.
Director Kalyan Shankar plays to his strengths, delivering comedy that fans eagerly anticipate. Produced by Naga Vamsi and Trivikram Srinivas on a modest budget, the film has already secured its digital rights with Netflix.
MAD Square is set for a grand theatrical release on March 29, 2025, an ideal time as student exams in Telugu states will have concluded. For now, the teaser has lived up to expectations, and fans are eagerly awaiting more updates. Stay tuned.
