Leading Telugu production house Sithara Entertainments, besides producing high-profile films with the biggest stars in the business, has consistently backed concept-driven projects featuring young talents from time to time. Their first major success with a small-budget film was DJ Tillu, while they backed other well-made projects like Butta Bomma and Intinti Ramayanam recently. Their next release is a comedy Mad.

Mad is an out-and-out entertainer set amidst a campus backdrop featuring a flurry of young talents. The film marks the directorial debut of Kalyan Shankar. Narne Nithin (Jr NTR’s brother-in-law), Sangeeth Shobhan, Ram Nithin, Sri Gouri Priya Reddy, Ananathika Sanilkumar, Gopikaa Udyan essay pivotal roles in the campus comedy produced by Haarika Suryadevara and Sai Soujanya.

While the film releases on Friday, the makers organised premieres across the Telugu states and the tickets were sold out in minutes. Several leading critics and media portals have given out rave reviews for the film already. One among the many viewers who enjoyed the film was actor Vishwak Sen (who’s currently working for Sithara Entertainments’ action drama Gangs of Godavari).

“#MAD is an unmissable blockbuster. It's been a long time since I wished I were part of the film. Congratulations to the entire team. The film will sell as many tickets as Happy Days. Manoj, Ashoke, Damodar will be etched in our memories forever. A true blockbuster. Congratulations to Vamshi Anna and China Babu Garu. Grab your tickets now; I doubt you'll find any tomorrow night. Kalyan Shanker long way to go . And three boys are new three idiots,” the Das Ka Dhamki star wrote.

Campus backdrop tales have conventionally done well in Telugu cinema, from the days of Hrudayam to Happy Days to Prema Desam and Kerintha. Will Mad join this list? We’ll know soon. Bheems Cecrioleo scored the music for the film while Shamdat and Dinesh Krishnan B are the cinematographers. Raghu Babu, Racha Ravi, Muralidhar Goud, Vishnu, Anthony, Srikanth Reddy are also part of the lineup.
