The makers of Macherla Niyojakavargam, featuring Nithiin in the lead, released the character poster of Samuthirakani. Directed by debutant MS Raja Shekar Reddy, the political action entertainer will release in theatres on August 12.

Samuthirakani is the unanimous MLA of Macherla Niyojakavargam and there’s no opposition to him in the constituency. In the poster, the actor looks old and serious as he signs papers. The MLA nominee and IAS officer played by Niithin are said to lock horns in the film.

Krithi Shetty and Catherine Tresa play the female leads in Macherla Niyojakavargam, bankrolled by Sudhakar Reddy and Nikitha Reddy. While Prasad Murella is the cinematographer, Mamidala Thirupathi penned the dialogues and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is the editor.

In an interview with the Hindu, Samuthirakani said, as an actor, he's open to doing any kind of role, even preachy ones. He believes cinema must be useful to society. “It must discuss both the pitfalls of society, as well as ways to take it forward. For instance, Appa was shot after great research. I had enough material to make four films; that’s how bad the system is,” he added.

As for acting, Samuthirakani remembers his guru K Balachander's advice. “Don’t act; become your character.” Recalling his association with the legendary director, Samuthirakani said, “KB sir used to be very worried that my films were not working well. I never knew this until he watched Nadodigal, and told me that he would sleep peacefully that night.”

On the work front, Nithiin has a film with Vakkantham Vamsi in the pipeline, and Samuthirakani is gearing up to direct Pawan Kalyan in a Telugu remake of Tamil hit, Vinodhaya Sitham.

Samuthirakani, in another conversation, added that the audience had given him a place in their hearts and safeguarding it is his priority. The actor says he hates to be boxed and branded as a certain kind of actor. “Now, I am getting plenty of offers in Telugu to play characters that are pure and well-intentioned.”

He has often shared that every time he gets into the skin of a new character, he feels a physical transformation within him. He shares that the characters that have had the most impact on him are those he played in Visaranai and Vinodhaya Sitham.
