It's been two years since Silambarasan TR Maanaadu hit screens. The film, which was helmed by Venkat Prabhu, turned out to be a massive hit at the box office. Maanaadu was a science fiction action thriller revolving around an NRI and a corrupt police officer, who are stuck in a time loop ahead of the state's Chief Ministers' massive public gathering aka maanaadu.

The film gave a massive fillip to Simbu's career, who had been going through a lean phase in the industry. Taking to his social media handle, the actor said that he wouldn't mind being in the loop again. He wrote, "Two years of endless love and celebrations! Wouldn't mind getting in this time loop one more time! Thanks to all the people involved in creating this masterpiece!#2YearsOfMaanaadu (sic)."
Responding to Silambarasan, Venkat Prabhu said, "Loop continues (sic)." His tweet indicating that the film might get a sequel has piqued the curiosity of fans.

Meanwhile, the film's director said that he thoroughly enjoyed working in the film. He wrote, "What an experience making this movie!!! Can never forget this for life!! Kalyani Priyadarshan, who played the leading lady, wrote, "Sirrr! I’m so proud to be a part of this film and thank you so much for everything! Hope shoot has been going well and can’t wait for the film (sic)!"
