It looks like gifting luxury cars to one another after a film becomes a success has become the norm in the film industry. The latest to join the bandwagon is Udhayanidhi Stalin, who recently surprised his Maamannan director Mari Selvaraj with a Mini Cooper. Pictures of Udhayanidhi Stalin unveiling the luxury car outside Mari Selvaraj's residence are now doing the rounds on the internet.  The duo are also seen exchanging a warm hug thereafter. In the picture, Mari Selvaraj is seen posing with his entire family.

Taking to his social media handle, Udhayanidhi Stalin wrote in Tamil, which roughly translates to, "Everyone discusses things differently. They share their thoughts through stories and by relating to the field. They have become hotly debated topics among Tamil people around the world. Our leaders like Ambedkar, Periyar, Anna, Kalaignar inculcated the sense of self-respect and thoughts of social justice among the young generation. Maamannan has been a huge commercial success as well. @RedGiantMovies_  is pleased to present @mari_selvaraj sir a Mini Cooper car. Thanks to my Mari Selvaraj sir, who gave the wings to 'Mamannan' to fly around the world (sic)."

The Maamannan team had celebrated the film's success with a simple cake cutting ceremony at the film's music composer AR Rahman's office yesterday. The team comprising Mari Selvaraj, Udhayanidhi Stalin and Keerthy Suresh thanked the composer who eventually cut the 'success' cake.

The anti-caste drama stars Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu in the titular character, Fahadh Faasil as the antagonist. While Udhayanidhi Stalin plays Vadivelu's son, Keerthy Suresh essays the role of a communist.

The story revolves around Maamannan (Vadivelu) an MLA from an oppressed community who is at loggerheads with Rathnavelu (Fahadh Faasil) from a dominant caste. When Maamannan's estranged son Athiveeran (Udhayanidhi) decides to put an end to the relentless torture of his community by the dominant caste, he becomes an unstoppable force.
