The actor and politician is all praise for director Muthukumar for his recent web series

Director Muthukumar's latest web series Ayali is indeed turning many heads. After receiving praise and accolades, Maamannan star Udhayanidhi Stalin and Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Tamil Nadu, is all praise for the director. He later gifted him a statue of social reformer and revolutionary Periyar. Praising the director, Udhayanidhi also wrote on his social media page in Tamil, which translates to, “Ayali - original web series is the story of a student who hides her puberty and aspires to become a doctor. Opposing child marriage and explaining the importance of female education, this series is a must watch for all. I appreciated director Muthukumar by awarding him a Periyar statue (sic)."
The plot revolves around the teenager Tamizhselvi who aspires to become a doctor. But she has to defy the norms and customs of her village, Veerapannai, which suppress the rights of women in the village.
Earlier, the film's director Muthukumar had stated that all the views that are reflected in the short film, are that of social reformers BR Ambedkar and Periyar. During the success meet of the show, the director stated," It is the trust that the makers had in me and the acceptance the audience showed that made this show a success. I never expected that kind of response that the show got. Many from the film fraternity called me up and praised my work. When a woman called up and told me that she had entered the puja room in her house after watching Ayali, I was touched. This also shows that cinema has the potential to change society." The director also urged everyone to watch the show with their mothers.
Ayali dropped on ZEE5 on January 26 and has become one of the talking points on social media. The series stars Abi Nakshatra, Anumol, Madhan, Linga, Singampuli nad Lovelyn Chandrasekar as part of the star cast.
