Music composer AR Rahman surprised everyone when he dropped a picture with Maamannan star Vadivelu and announced that the ace comedian has sung a song for the film. In the picture, Vadivelu and AR Rahman are seen gleefully posing for the camera in the recording studio.

AR Rahman wrote that the ace comedian has sung a song in the album and that he made them laugh throughout the session. He also called the session memorable. The pictures has already won many hearts. Many have captioned the picture, Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu sings for Isai Puyal AR Rahman. The film's director Mari Selvaraj is also seen in another picture.

While Vadivelu has sung a number of songs in his career and most of them have been massive hits, it looks like this is the first time that he is singing for the Ponniyin Selvan 2 composer. This is yet another reason that fans are looking forward to the combo.

Maamannan marks AR Rahman's maiden collaboration with Mari Selvaraj and Udhayanidhi Stalin. Rahman had earlier stated in a promo video that it was very interesting to work with Mari Selvaraj. "His thoughts and style of filmmaking are quite different," he had said.

Maamannan stars Vadivelu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Fahadh Faasil and Keerthy Suresh in the lead, with Vadivelu playing the titular character. The team had recently dropped the first-look poster, in which Vadivelu and Udhayanidhi Stalin are seen perched on chairs, with Udhayanidhi holding a sword and Vadivelu holding a gun.  The intriguing picture had got everyone talking.

Maamannan marks Udhayanidhi Stalin's last project as an actor. The Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu had announced that he will retire from films after the film. He had also opted out of his impending film with Kamal Haasan. The digital rights of Maamannan have been bagged by Netflix and the film is bankrolled by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies.
