The first trailer from Lupin’s season 2, which released on May 11, promises more thrills and excitement with Assane Diop now becoming the most wanted man in France. The video also revealed that the season will drop in Summer 2021.

From the clip, the show pretty much starts off from where season 1 ended with the kidnapping of Assane’s son. The master thief warns the perpetrators to not lay a finger on the boy. However, Diop, who has been framed for a crime he did not commit, has another task on his hands – to stay out of the police’s radar. The trailer has everything that the audiences have come to love about the French series, including Assane suiting up for a heist, saying, “We are ready. Nothing but magic.”

Lupin’s first season, which dropped in January this year, was Netflix‘s most-watched title in the first quarter of 2021. The second instalment will reportedly also have five episodes.

The first season followed Omar Sy’s Assane, a modern-day gentleman thief, who is inspired by the fictional character Arsène Lupin, as he vows to avenge the death of his father, 25 years after he was accused of a crime he didn’t commit.

Lupin also stars Shirine Boutella, Ludivine Sagnier, Clotilde Hesme, Soufiane Guerrab and Fargass Assandé. In an earlier interview with Deadline, Omar spoke about the global success of Lupin. “This level of response is totally beyond me. It’s great to see in Brazil or in France they loved Lupin for the same reason. There’s something universal and that’s something I always try to achieve,” he said.

The series is already renewed for a third season on Netflix.
