Loveyapa focuses on the contemporary relationship of Baani (Khushi Kapoor) and Gaurav (Junaid Khan). Though, like many Gen Z couples, their lives are quite connected with their mobile devices, they are madly in love. When Baani's father, Atul (Ashutosh Rana), a conservative and somewhat sceptical man, chooses to test the strength of their tie, this causes conflict.
Atul offers a special difficulty: Baani and Gaurav have to trade their unlocked phones for a whole night. This implies access to all their texts, photographs, social media, and everything else on their devices. The concept is to uncover any concealed truths or secrets that could indicate a lack of trust or compatibility.
At first, the pair is certain and they think they have no secrets. But as they look through each other's phones, they learn new things about each other's lives. Baani finds Gaurav's provocative texts to other women, while Gaurav learns about Baani's prior romances and some dubious internet contacts. These discoveries set up a string of fights and disputes.
The movie looks at how quickly misunderstandings may develop in the digital era, where context is sometimes missing and appearances can be misleading. It also addresses the pressure young people have to project a flawless image of themselves online, even if it is far from reality.
Baani and Gaurav are driven to face their own insecurities and weaknesses as the night goes on. They have to choose if the secrets they have found are deal-breakers or just a part of one another's history. In the end, the movie challenges whether, in a society where technology has made it so simple to hide behind a screen, genuine love can endure.
Domestically, Loveyapa made only ₹4.25 crore, a disappointing opening weekend. Its worldwide gross projected to reach ₹8.80–12 crore ended its theatrical run.
