Good Night-fame Manikandan, who has been lately seen in roles of problematic spouse/partner, will appear in a new romantic drama titled Lover. This upcoming romantic drama is written and directed by Prabhuram Vyas of the Livin web series fame. The new teaser, starring Manikandan and Modern Love Chennai-fame Sri Gouri Priya, was released recently and has garnered the attention of netizens.
The teaser opens with Sri Gouri’s character narrating the ‘story of how she met her love’. It starts off with Gouri recounting her memories of meeting Manikandan’s character named Arun at a college fest during her second year of college. The teaser also showcases the problems she is facing in her relationship at present.
Manikandan portrays the character of a toxic boyfriend who suspects her male friend’s intention, while the latter accuses him of being controlling. Later the clip shows their breakup due to conflicts but insist that they still have love for each other. The film promises an interesting take on toxic relationships with the central character played by Manikandan set to amaze the viewers through his good performance.
The actor, who brilliantly played the lead character in Good Night and has been consistently part of good projects, hints that his romantic drama Lover will not cease to capture the hearts of the audience. Overall, this coming-of-age film is sure to be a breath of fresh air to cinephiles and those who are bored of watching action dramas.
Lover is a serious drama, says director Prabhuram Vyas
In an interview, director Prabhuram revealed that Lover is set to be a serious drama with intense emotions. “Lover will talk about what goes into making a relationship work. It will portray the dynamics in a relationship between a man and a woman. Lover will be a little more serious with drama and intense emotions involved”, the director elaborated.
Cast and crew of Lover
Apart from Manikandan and Sri Gouri Priya in lead roles, Kanna Ravi plays a pivotal role in the film. Shreyaas Krishna is cranking the camera for the film, while Sean Roldan is the music composer. Barath Vikraman is the editor, while Rajkamal is the production designer.
The movie is bankrolled by Million Dollar Studios and M R P Entertainment, who were the makers of Manikandan's previous hit film Good Night. The film is set to hit the cinemas on Valentine’s Day in 2024.
