Fahadh Faasil brushed aside the success of his previous theatrical releases – Pushpa and Vikram – that were blockbusters and told OTTplay in a recent interview that his movies happen in Malayalam. “What is important to me is that Malayalis watch my films because I clearly make movies for them,” he said.
That’s why his latest release Malayankunju, which marked his first Malayalam theatrical release in over 2 years after Trance, was also a litmus test in the sense that – whether it would draw viewers back to theatres on account of Fahadh’s popularity that had skyrocketed since the pandemic due to his OTT films. The survival thriller, which will stream on Amazon Prime Video from August 11, proved that Fahadh indeed has the star power to accomplish that.
The wait for his next theatrical releases, however, will not be as long. While Fahadh did tell us that he hasn’t signed any other project apart from Akhil Sathyan’s Pachuvum Athbhuthavilakkum, here’s all we know about his upcoming movies.
Pachuvum Athbhuthavilakkum
The movie, which also marks Sathyan Anthikad’s son Akhil’s debut, will have Fahadh in a light-hearted role of a Mumbai-based youth who travels from Mumbai to Kerala and back via Goa and becomes a link between an elder woman and a girl. The movie is set to release in December.
An untitled film with Sudheesh Sankar
The actor has reportedly given the nod for a realistic thriller, helmed by Villali Veeran filmmaker Sudheesh Sankar. The movie is based on true events and its title is expected to be announced through Fahadh’s social media pages on August 17. The film will go on floors by November.
An untitled film with Althaf Salim
Fahadh is reportedly also in talks with Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela director Althaf Salim for a romantic comedy entertainer. The movie, which will be produced by Ashiq Usman, is expected to go on floors soon. Althaf had earlier told us that Fahadh was also looking forward to working in the film as he hasn’t starred in a movie of the genre for quite some time.
