The trailer launch of Jayam Ravi's upcoming film Agilan was held in Chennai yesterday and the occasion turned out to be a show of the warm bond that Love Today actor Pradeep Ranganathan and Jayam Ravi shared with each other. It is to be noted that Pradeep was introduced to the film industry as a director with Comali, which starred Jayam Ravi in the lead.
Pradeep, who arrived at the audio launch was received with a thunderous applause by his fans. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the reason he was here was only because of Jayam Ravi. "The reason I am here on stage and have been receiving all your love is because of Ravi sir. I have always maintained in my interviews that the first step is the most crucial one. I will always be grateful to Ravi sir for giving me the first break." He said that he was excited about Agilan and wished the team a huge success.
He also recalled how Jayam Ravi struggled to get into the skin of the character for his maiden venture Comali. "After our discussion, we were about to begin shooting in a span of a month. He said that he would do both the characters. When I asked him if we could use another actor for the school portions, he said that he would do it himself. I was apprehensive that he had to lose weight within a span of a month, Ravi sir ate apples and oranges but never showed his irritation on the sets that arise when your stomach isn't full. I have also heard that people don't treat debutant directors well. But he gave me a lot of respect. He never asked me to change anything in the script after it was locked. He is the best a director could get." He also revealed that he had narrated another script to Jayam Ravi and that he would make an announcement at the right time."
Meanwhile, Jayam Ravi, too, was all praise for Pradeep Ranganathan. "When I look at Pradeep's growth, I feel like shouting from the rooftop, "Yess!" Because I found the talent long before all of you found him. I always thought he would come a long way. People say that I was the one who introduced him, but I think it's not a big deal. I didn't invent Pradeep. He created a stage for himself." Their camaraderie has won the hearts of many.
