Pradeep Ranganathan is indeed the man of the moment! The Love Today director, who recently made his acting debut with the film, has been basking in the success and the appreciation pouring in for his romantic comedy. And now the director has taken to his social media handle to thank the director of Love Today (1997), from which the title of the new film has been borrowed. The title Love Today was first used in director Balasekaran's film, which starred Vijay, Suvalakshmi and Manthra in the lead.
Pradeep thanked director Balasekaran and wrote on his social media handle, "In the process of using the title 'LoveToday' , I forgot to Thank the person who first created it .It's LoveToday(1997) fame Director Balasekaran . You have created a timeless title . Thankyou for the title sir and being generous about it (sic)"
The 1997 film also had Raghuvaran, Karan and Sriman in supporting characters and the songs by composer Shiva were a huge hit, especially the songs, Yen Pennendru and Enna Azhagu Ethana Azhagu, to name a few. The film turned out to be a huge hit at the box office and established Vijay as a romantic actor.
The 2022 film, Love Today, on the other hand, is a contemporary take on modern relationships, where technology, too, plays a crucial role. The film marked Pradeep's second directorial venture after Comali and had Ivana, Raveen Ravi, Yogi Babu, Sathyaraj and Radikaa Sarathkumar as part of the star cast. The film has already grossed more than Rs 70 crore at the box office, which is no ordinary feat for a debutant actor. Buoyed by the success of the Tamil version, the Telugu version, too, was recently released, which also opened to huge success at the box office. The film will now have its digital premiere on Netflix from December 2 and fans are eagerly awaiting to catch it once again.
