Love Mocktail 2 has definitely opened up avenues for Bengaluru girl Rachel David. The young actress, who has Malayali roots and made her film debut opposite Pranav Mohanlal in Irupathonnam Nootandu, has just signed up for her third film in Kannada. Rachel has been roped in to be a part of director Girish Mulimane’s travel film starring Premier Padmini and Rathnan Prapancha fame Pramod and Dia-star Pruthvi Ambaar in the lead.
The as-yet-untitled film will have two parallel story arcs, with Rachel Paired with Pramod in one. Scheduled to be officially launched with a title reveal on June 23, the film will go on floors on July 1. This is Rajaru maker Girish’s second directorial.
Rachel, who was in the Malayalam film Kaval, has wrapped up a dark web thriller called ‘@’. The film is the debut of Akash Sen, the son of late writer-filmmaker Sachy, and is being directed by editor-turned-director Don Max. The film also has Sharanjith, Bibin Perumbilli, Nayana Elza, Sanjana Doss, Sujith Raj and Aradhya Laxman on the cast.
The actress is also a part of the Kannada gangster subject Country Made, in which she is paired with Gantumoote and Tom & Jerry actor Nischith Korodi. “Country Made is a film that I committed to even before Love Mocktail 2 came out. This is a gangster film that will be shot against the backdrop of Kolkata. Some portions of the film will be shot in North Karnataka and the rest in Kolkata. The sub text to the title is that the story goes from a dark side to a sweet city,” she explains.
Meanwhile, Rachel is also looking forward to her Tamil film debut, Walking/Talking Strawberry Ice Cream produced by Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara. The film, directed by Vinayak has KK (of Soorarai Pottru fame) in the lead, while singer Jonita Gandhi will be seen in a pivotal role.
