Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, has started filming in Film City, where they shot a pivotal scene yesterday. The talky parts of the film, according to an insider who spoke to mid-day, are meant to be very intense emotionally and crucial to the story.

Intense dialogue and emotional scenes

The source told the tabloid that after taking a few days off, they resumed filming and captured important sequences until January 11. Bhansali's dialogue-heavy scenes consistently resonate with viewers, and this movie is no exception. The source also revealed that Ranbir, Alia, and Vicky would have challenging and combative interactions that will test their characters.

Despite beginning work on the film in November 2024, the crew will commence full-scale filming this month. Bhansali plans to finish it by the middle of 2025.

Orry and Deepika Padukone join the cast

Earlier, India Today reported that social media star Orry—real name Orhan Awatramani—has also joined the cast. They have also enlisted Deepika Padukone to make a brief appearance.

Orry will play Alia's best friend, a homosexual, in Love and War, according to an insider on the set. Ranbir and Vicky will portray officers in the Indian Armed Forces, while Alia performs as a cabaret dancer. However, the details surrounding Deepika's role remain unclear.

Vicky Kaushal on working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Earlier, during a conversation about working with Bhansali, Vicky told GQ India that he has been watching him, and he finds it mind-blowing, as the filmmaker is completely engrossed in his work. All scenes are metaphors for life to him and it will never die. Bhansali draws his gaze not only to Vicky's performance within a single frame but also to the light shaft, the swinging curtain, and the direction of the background's movement. Observing him has the actor enchanted.

Consistently, Bhansali remains true to form, and he's constantly planning a scene or the one after that. Bhansali's attentiveness prevents him from endlessly discussing any topic. However, the filmmaker maintains his composure during discussions about creativity.

Filming commitments of the cast

Until October, Alia and Vicky will film Love And War for over 200 days, while Ranbir plans to wrap up his role in the film by July or August of 2025.
