Even as Midhun Manuel Thomas’ Abraham Ozler, starring Jayaram, is running successfully in the theatres, discussions have already started about a sequel. Thanks to the actor's confirmation of a sequel and the film's intriguing ending, Malayali audiences have high hopes for Abraham Ozler's next investigation.
Although there has been no official confirmation, fans of films like Neru eagerly await their sequels. Meanwhile, there are other Malayalam films’ sequels that the audience are eagerly waiting for in the coming years.
L2: Empuraan
In this eagerly awaited movie, Mohanlal will play Stephen Nedumpally, aka Khureshi Abram, again. The protagonist's past and present will be at the centre of the film, which is the sequel of Lucifer. Prithviraj Sukumaran is directing the action thriller, which is expected to star actors from other film industries alongside several cast members from the prequel, including Manju Warrier, Prithviraj and Tovino Thomas.
Romancham
Romancham, which is set in 2007, centres around a group of roommates who play an Ouija board out of boredom while living in Bengaluru. Nevertheless, an unforeseen series of events completely upends their lives. By the end of this comedy horror movie, the audience was left wondering if Anamika really existed and, if so, why the housemates did not encounter any strange happenings while Sinu was living with them. It was the perfect set-up for a sequel.
Aaram Pathiraa
Anjaam Pathiraa, by Midhun Manuel Thomas, raised the standards for a Malayalam crime thriller. The audience was drawn in by the film's spine-tingling tale and intriguing ending. People are curious whether the police criminologist Dr Anwar Hussain's next case will be even more shocking than his first. Similar to the prequel, real-life inspired cases are anticipated in Anjaam Pathiraa 2, which is reportedly titled Aaram Pathiraa.
Minnal Murali
Not just Malayalis but movie buffs everywhere are anticipating the sequel of Minnal Murali. With its direct OTT release, the movie gained popularity during the pandemic. The main character is Jaison, a tailor in Kurukkanmoola who gets superpowers after being struck by a lightning. There is a lot of interest in learning more about Jaison aka Minnal Murali’s adventures, and whether he will be saving the planet from evil forces in the future.
Adi Kapyare Kootamani
For a while now, film enthusiasts have been discussing the comedy film's sequel. The audience loved Adi Kapyare Kootamani for its performances and spontaneous humour.
