Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj's dream run in the Tamil film industry continues with him joining hands with none other than Superstar Rajinikanth. His meteoric rise in his career is the stuff of a fairytale. From directing relatively newcomers in a low-budget movie to working with cinematic giants like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and every star in between is not a small feat.

The announcement of Thalaivar 171 was a pleasant surprise for everyone at a time when speculations were flying thick and fast about the project being shelved for unknown reasons. However, the internet has developed a strong hunch about Lokesh's alleged unhappiness about the announcement.

Internet has a field day over Lokesh Kanagaraj's tweet

At the onset, this speculation may sound crazy. It's a dream for every filmmaker to work with Rajinikanth. And which director is crazy enough not to feel overjoyed upon the confirmation of the project with the Superstar? The thought seems foolish and doesn't merit a lot of consideration. However, the internet begs to differ and many are convinced about Lokesh's lack of enthusiasm in his reaction to the announcement.

"Excited to be joining hands with Thalaivar @rajinikanth Sir for #Thalaivar171 with @sunpictures An @anirudhofficial Musical An @anbariv stunt," tweeted Lokesh, reacting to the announcement post from Sun Pictures.

And many seemed to have the same question, Why so serious, Lokesh? The director's tweet has led to a meme fest on social media with many speculating reasons behind his alleged unhappiness. "What a dry tweet Lol man was held at gunpoint," quipped a Twitter user.

"He is not happy," opined another.

Some even wondered whether Lokesh's alleged unhappiness stemmed from the fact that the producers announced the release of his upcoming movie Leo, which stars Thalapathy Vijay in the lead.

Leo is in the post-production

Lokesh is now busy with the post-production work of Leo. It's due in cinemas on October 19. Besides Vijay, Leo also stars Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Mansoor Ali Khan.
