Despite being in various stages of production, Indian 2, Vikram 2, Kaithi 2 and Ponniyin Selvan 2 are a few of the forthcoming Tamil projects that are riding on huge expectations. However, these are all sequels of hit films. But one standalone movie which is carrying gargantuan expectations even before its official announcement is Thalapathy 67 (tentative title).

The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial stars Vijay in the lead and several speculations have been doing the rounds with regard to its cast and crew members. Anirudh's inclusion as the music director is the only confirmed part of the project.

Trisha playing the female lead in the film is almost confirmed, though an official word is awaited. The movie was officially launched a few days ago, but the makers have ensured that no photos or videos are leaked from the event. Lokesh, who was spotted at the trailer launch of Vishal's Laththi, opened up on the movie's update.

After repeated questions from the media, he said that official announcements will be made only after the release of Vijay's next outing Varisu which is hitting the screens on January 12. The filmmaker added that he is keen on spilling the beans, but revealing something in the movie will divert attention from Varisu.

Lokesh also informed that a press meet will be organized in January to divulge many things about Thalapathy 67. When quizzed whether the characters in the film will be part of the universe he had created in Vikram, he remained tight-lipped.

It looks like fans of Vijay have to wait for more than a month to know what makers have in store for them.
