Lokesh Kanagaraj opens up about Leo star Vijay's reaction to the story of Rajinikanth's Thalaivar 171

Fans of Rajinikanth, who were over the moon after Jailer scored a big success, had one more reason to smile when Sun Pictures announced that the Superstar is joining hands with Lokesh Kanagaraj for an action drama. The news was out when the director has been hitting the headlines regarding his forthcoming release Leo.

Tentatively titled Thalaivar 171, the film is likely to be regarded as the biggest project from Kollywood after the release of Leo. Fans of Rajini are now curious to know if the movie would be part of Lokesh's LCU.

Director Lokesh, who started interacting with the media as part of promotional activities for Leo, revealed some interesting tidbits, leaving cinephiles excited. He said that Vijay listened to the story of Thalaivar 171 and that he liked it after 10 minutes of narration.

The filmmaker also added that he will begin pre-production works for the movie after Leo's release. The project is expected to go on floors in 2024. Earlier, the movie was rumoured to be the last film of Rajinikanth.

Will Leo surpass Jailer?

All eyes are now on the box office performance of Leo. Fans of Vijay hope that the film is likely to surpass Jailer's collection if it garners a positive response. Vijay's current highest grosser is said to be Varisu. Cinephiles believe that Leo has the potential to outsmart Jailer's worldwide collection.     

Leo has been regarded as the most-hyped Tamil movie ever since it was announced, thanks to the huge success of Lokesh's previous outing Vikram. The speculated connection Leo shares with Lokesh's films is another reason behind the project's huge expectation among movie buffs.
