Rajinikanth, who is currently shooting for Vettaiyan with filmmaker TJ Gnanavel, is one of the top stars of the Indian film industry. With that, there is no doubt that fans are eagerly looking forward to updates about his films. While Thalaivar will next collaborate with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a film that is tentatively titled Thalaivar 171, speculations suggest that an update on the film will be out on April 14, on the occasion of Tamil New Year. An official confirmation is not yet out.
Rajinikanth, who was last seen in Jailer, has been experimenting with his films in recent times. After playing a jail warden and grandfather in Jailer, Rajinikanth will be collaborating with TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim-fame for Vettaiyan. The shooting is in progress. Meanwhile, the actor had also announced that his next film, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171, will be with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Now, as per social media buzz, an update about the film will be out on April 14, coinciding with the Tamil New Year. Thalaivar 171 marks Lokesh’s first collaboration with Rajinikanth. However, the director has confirmed that the film will not fall under LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe). Thalaivar 171 is backed by Sun Pictures and has music scored by Anirudh Ravichander. A release window for the film is yet to be announced.
Lokesh Kanagaraj had said that he was currently working on the script and pre-production of the film. Thalaivar 170. The project is set to go on floors soon. Earlier in an interview, director Lokesh Kanagaraj hinted that he always enjoyed the superstar’s negative avatars, which he played during the initial days of his acting career.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth will be playing a cop in Vettaiyan. The film boasts a star ensemble, including Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, and Dushara Vijayan, among others. The film is backed by Lyca Productions.
