Director VK Prakash has never been shy of experimenting with the content of his movies. The filmmaker, who has helmed female-centric movies such as Pranaa, Erida and Oruthee in recent times, is now gearing up for the release of his next titled Live.
The film, which is scripted by S Suresh Babu who had earlier teamed up with the director in Navya Nair’s Oruthee, has Mamta Mohandas, Soubin Shahir, Shine Tom Chacko and Priya Prakash Varrier in pivotal roles.
What is Live about?
The film is touted to be a thriller, which has the media as its backdrop. Mamta plays a doctor in the movie, which has Soubin Shahir as an entrepreneur, Shine Tom Chacko as a journalist and Priya Prakash Varrier as a college student.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Suresh Babu said, “The movie is about the kind of impact that media has when it intrudes into the lives of people. The film is also inspired by certain real-life incidents.”
The events that happen after Shine Tom Chacko’s media organisation, which resorts to unethical reporting tactics and sensationalism, reports on the lives of the characters, form the plot of the film that was entirely shot in Kochi. Soubin and Mamta had previously teamed up in Lal Jose’s Meow and were also set to work together in Bhadran’s Eo, which is also scripted by Suresh Babu.
The movie, which was cleared by the censor board with a ‘U’ certificate, also has Krishna Prabha, Reshmi Soman and Jayaraj Kozhikode as part of its cast. Alphons Joseph has composed the music for the movie, which has Nikhil S Praveen as its DOP and Sunil S Pillai as its editor.
When and where to watch Live?
VK Prakash’s Live is set to release in theatres on May 12. The film will clash with Navya Nair and Saiju Kurup’s Janaki Jaane, which also has the same release date.
