Relive the poignant romance of The Reader, a film that delicately explores a transformative love story set in post-war Germany.
For fans of classic horror, Scream 4 offers a nostalgic return to the thrills and chills of the beloved franchise. Enjoy the action-packed escapades of Red and its sequel, Red 2, featuring an all-star cast and high-octane adventure. And don’t miss the electrifying dance dramas of the Step Up series, where unforgettable choreography and heartfelt stories bring the transformative power of dance to life.
The movie Prisoners chronicles the kidnapping of two Pennsylvania girls and the police's pursuit of their kidnapper; it was nominated for best cinematography at the 86th Academy Awards and named one of the top ten films of 2013 by the National Board of Review. The father of one of the children decides to take matters into his own hands when the police release a juvenile suspect they arrested. The main characters in Aaron Guzikowski's psychological thriller with Denis Villeneuve are Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Viola Davis.
As Michael Berg observes a train pass through Berlin in 1995, the events of The Reader unfold. I am transported on a tram journey in 1958. As he steps off the tram and into the rain, 15-year-old Michael feels queasy. After 36-year-old tram conductor Hanna Schmitz finds him, she helps him get clean and returns him home. Hanna Schmitz becomes Michael's world while he recovers from scarlet fever. Hanna leaves after an altercation, leaving Michael devastated. Kate Winslet, Ralph Fiennes, and Bruno Ganz are the stars of Stephen Daldry's spicy romance film.
After a long period has passed since the Ghostface Killer terrorized the community of Woodsboro, the fourth part of the hit series, Scream 4, takes place. Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) published a self-help book to aid people in overcoming the trauma of those terrible events. She sees old acquaintances Courteney Cox's Gale Weathers and David Arquette's Sheriff Dewey when she goes back to Woodsboro for her book tour. But Sidney's return also triggers Ghostface's reappearance, endangering her loved ones. Written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Wes Craven.
Based on the DC Comics limited series of the same name, the 2010 action comedy Red depicts the life of a reclusive ex-CIA black ops agent named Frank Moses. When an assassination squad storms Frank's house one day, he ends their lives with a single blow. When Frank's beloved Sarah refuses to accompany him on his journey to Missouri, he resorts to kidnapping her. Cynthia Wilkes, a supervisor of a rookie CIA agent, has assigned him the mission of eliminating Frank. Robert Schwentke helms the picture, while Jon, Erich, and Warren Ellis pen the script. It boasts an ensemble cast that includes Karl Urban, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, and Bruce Willis.
The action-comedy Red 2 follows the 2010 smash hit Red. Three years after the events of the previous film, this one follows ex-CIA spy Frank Moses as he attempts to live a normal life with his girlfriend Sarah Ross. Government officials detain and question Frank at an FBI Yankee White facility. Private military contractors ambush the facility under the command of dishonest agent Jack Horton, who threatens to torture Sarah unless Frank gives him the information he needs. The film is written by Warren Ellis, Erich Hoeber, and Jon Hoeber and directed by Dean Parisot. Lee Byung-hun, Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Anthony Hopkins, and the rest of the ensemble cast are all featured in the film.
Anne Fletcher's dance drama Step Up (2006) stars Jenna Dewan as strict ballet dancer Nora Clark and Channing Tatum as defiant street dancer Tyler Gauge. Tyler meets Nora while doing his community service sentence at a school for the performing arts after getting into legal trouble. They put their differences aside and work together to learn a hybrid form of dance—a fusion of street and classical—in preparation for Nora's major display. Their bond grows stronger as they discover each other's strengths and weaknesses, achieve their goals, and experience the life-altering magic of dancing.
Step Up 2: The Streets (2008), which Jon M. Chu directed, is the follow-up to Step Up. Andie West, played by Briana Evigan, is a defiant street dancer who has a hard time fitting in at the elite Maryland School of the Arts. She befriends a gifted student named Chase Collins (Robert Hoffman) there who is also very passionate about dance. By banding together, these outcast dancers create a squad for the underground street dance war known as "The Streets." The film's high-energy dance performances combine street and modern forms, exploring themes of self-expression, shattering boundaries, and finding family.
The fourth installment of the Step Up series, Step Up Revolution (2012), was directed by Scott Speer. The film takes place in Miami and follows the story of Emily (Kathryn McCormick), a budding dancer who develops feelings for Sean (Ryan Guzman), the boss of a dance group famous for their extravagant flash mobs. With the help of the crew, Emily and Sean, who are beginning to develop feelings for each other, stage a dance protest against a rich developer who plans to tear down their neighborhood. Step Up Revolution is a dance/social activism hybrid that showcases the transformative potential of dance.
