A distant relative of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, the National Award-winning actress's career began at the age of 13 with the Bengali legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s Apur Sansar in 1959. Her role as Aparna is still afresh in fans' hearts. Later, she went on to leave a mark in Hindi cinema and made her debut in the industry with Kashmir Ki Kali, released in 1964.
