Shaheed (1965)

Set in British India in the mid-1920s, Bhagat Singh and his friends avenge the death of an innocent protester by killing Commissioner Saunders.

Upkar (1967)

The film follows Bharat giving up everything to educate his brother Puran. However, Puran turns out to be a greedy person and gets involved in drug trafficking to earn money. The film was inspired by Indian prime minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, who suggested that Kumar make a film based on his motto for India, "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan."

Purab Aur Pashchim (1970)

Bharat, the son of a freedom fighter, goes to England to study and tries to change the mindset of the people there towards India. Kranti (1981)
