Manam, the 2014-released blockbuster remains one of the greatest films ever made produced by Telugu cinema. The fantasy drama was the last film of legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, and was produced by his home banner, Annapoorna Studios. The veteran actor shared the screen with his son, superstar Nagarjuna, and grandsons Naga Chaitanya, and Akhil Akkineni (in a cameo) in the movie directed by Vikram Kumar.
Nageswara Rao passed away while Manam was still under production, and the movie has been considered as a tribute to the iconic actor-producer. As Manam completes 10 years of its release, here are the reasons to revisit the film on Sun NXT and OTTplay Premium.
The legendary actor appeared in the role of Chaitanya (named after his grandson), an aged man who tries to reunite his late parents Seetharamudu and Ramalakshmi, who reincarnated as Nageswara Rao (played by Nagarjuna) and Dr. Anjali (Shriya Saran) in this birth. Akkineni Nageswara Rao delivered an unforgettable performance in the extremely well-written role, which eventually emerged as a befitting send-off to the legend.
Nagarjuna played the character, which is named after his father Nageswara Rao, while Naga Chaitanya essayed the character named Nagarjuna in the film, which made the story even more interesting. All three leading men delivered exceptional performances in the film. Shriya Saran and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who appeared as the female leads, and the rest of the star cast including Brahmanandam, Ali, MS Narayana, Chalapathi Rao, Saranya Ponvannan, and others played their roles well.
Director Vikram Kumar stunned the audiences by narrating the concept of eternal love with a film that stars three generations of actors playing each other's namesakes extremely well. The talented filmmaker and writer's duo, Kumar Siddhartha and Harsha Vardhan succeeded in creating an unforgettable, heartwarming cinematic experience with a complicated subject, without losing grip over the entertainment factor.
