Vaaranam Aayiram – ZEE5

Helmed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, Vaaranam Aayiram is a coming-of-age drama starring Suriya in dual roles. He plays both the father and son, along with a cast including Sameera, Divya Spandana, Simran and others. The film revolves around a military officer who gets to know the news of his father’s demise. He recollects his life with him on his way home. Gautham Menon, in several instances, has said that the film was inspired by his own relationship with his father.

Kanaa is a sports drama directed by Arunraja Kamaraj and stars Sathyaraj, Aishwarya Rajesh, Sivakarthikeyan, and Darshan. It revolves around a girl who aspires to be a cricketer. The film, in parallel, also explores the bond between the father and daughter.

Kannathil Muthamittal – Aha

Kannathil Muthamittal is directed by Mani Ratnam and features Madhavan, Keerthana Parthiban, Simran, Prakash Raj, Nandita Das and others. En Bommukutty Ammavukku is a family drama by director Faasil about a couple who lose their daughter to an accident. After their mourning period, the couple decides to adopt a child, only for her biological parents to come in search of her. The film stars Sathyaraj, Rekha, Raghuvaran, Geetu Mohandas and Suhasini, among others.
