This film tells the unpleasant story of a mute orphan named Shankar, who is bound to his duty as a servant. Soon he finds himself caught in a web of betrayal from his master, the wealthy, notorious man in the village. His master orders him to lure Gauri, a fun-loving woman in the village, into marriage through a fabricated picture. After seeing Gauri’s beautiful and innocent face, the old master failed to overcome his extreme desire to marry her. However, after seeing Shankar’s picture, Gauri instantly falls in love with him and agrees to marry. Little did she know that she was scammed by the older master, as he is the one who is marrying her.
This film is known for its hit songs. Once again, Shah Rukh Khan is seen as an orphan named Arjun, who has been adopted by a wealthy NRI businessman named Kishorilal, living in Canada. Kishorilal wants an Indian bride for his son Rajiv, who is a big flirt, unlike Arjun. Kishorilal goes back to India to ask his childhood friend Suraj to ask his daughter Ganga’s hand for Rajiv, but later gets to know that Arjun and Ganga are in love. Rajiv is a domestic abuser and a wife beater.
This is the first film in which Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan collaborated. The duo play siblings who are very close. Karan (Salman Khan) and Arjun (SRK) are inseparable. But when a wealthy thug, Thakur Durjan Singh, in the village can't tolerate this ethereal bond, he kills them and their father. Decades later, Karan and Arjun are reincarnated and set out to take revenge for their father's murder.
Although Shah Rukh Khan didn't play the protagonist in the movie, he had a pivotal role as Jaisingh. He even featured in the hit item number ‘Ishq Kameena’ with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The story of the movie revolves around a married couple, Shekhar (Sanjay Kapoor) and Nandini (Karisma Kapoor), who get married in Canada. When he returns to his hometown in rural India to introduce his wife and son to his family, they try to take away his son to make him a thug. Shekhar’s father, Narsimha (Nana Patekar), is a gang leader who is known for being brutal. A scene featuring Shah Rukh when he helps Nandini escape from the heinous place with her son after the death of Shekhar is iconic.
This film is a sweet and heartwarming story between 3 siblings: Ashok Bansal (Jackie Shroff), Anil Bansal (Shah Rukh Khan) and Sunita Bansal (Nivedita Joshi). While Anil and Sunita are warm-hearted and kind, Ashok is strict and stern. When a young orphan girl named Munna (Pooja Ruparel) comes into his life, everything begins to change.
