The Mammootty starrer, which is the first installment in the CBI franchise, is helmed by K Madhu and penned by SN Swami. The megastar played the role of CBI officer Sethurama Iyer in the film, which revolved around the murder case of Omana (played by Lissy). Manivathoorile Aayiram Sivarathrikal

Manivathoorile Aayiram Sivarathrikal revolved around the soul-stirring love story of Dr. Vinayachandran and Neena, played the megastar and senior actress, who belonged to different religions. The veteran actor won the hearts of the audience with his exceptional performance (and unmatched voice modulation) in the film. In one of his old interview Mohanlal had picked this Fazil directorial as one of his favourite Mammootty films.

Kottayam Kunjachan

This Jayaram starrer helmed by Rajasenan, which is a comedy thriller, was released in 1997. The Car revolves around the lives of Mahadevan and Kumaran, who gets into major trouble after a car and a girl named Maya enter their lives. Jayaram and Janardhanan’s impeccable comic timings, and the senior filmmaker’s signature making made the movie a thoroughly entertaining watch.
