Nirnayam

This medical thriller which hit the big screens in 1995, is loosely based on the American Film, The Fugitive. Nirnayam featured Mohanlal in the role of a sugeon named Dr. Roy, who is falsely accused of murdering his beloved wife Dr. Annie, played by Heera Rajagopal. The exceptional making, performances by the leading man and rest of the star cast, and the music made this Sangeeth Sivan directorial a memorable film.

Kauravar

Cast: Mammootty, Vishnuvardhan, Thilakan, Murali

The iconic actor-director duo of Malayalam cinema, Mammootty and Joshiy delivered one of their best films in 1992, with Kauravar. The much-loved gangster drama featured the megastar in the role of Antony, an ex-convict, in the movie. Kannada superstar Vishnuvardhan made an extended cameo appearance in the role of police officer Haridas IPS, who adopts Antony’s daughter. Kauravar still remains one of the finest gangster films ever produced in the Malayalam cinema.

Lelam

If you are a fan of Malayalam mass action thrillers, you should definitely not miss Lelam, the 1997-released Suresh Gopi starrer helmed by Joshiy. This iconic action film narrated the story of the ongoing rivalry of two prominent families, in the backdrop of Spirit business. Veteran actor MG Soman’s brilliant performance as the iconic character Aanakattil Eappachan still remains a top favourite for audiences, who are familiar with this blockbuster film.

Meleparambil Aanveedu

This romantic comedy film helmed by Rajasenan revolves around the story of Harikrishnan who fails to open up about his marriage with a Tamil girl named Pavizham, in front of his super strict parents. Instead, he brings his newly wedded wife home as the new maid, and what happens next forms the hilarious plot of Meleparambil Aanveed. If you want to watch an extremely well-made comedy with some memorable performances, this Jayaram-Shobana starrer is a perfect choice.

Mannar Mathai Speaking

Director: Mani C Kaappan

Cast: Mukesh, Saikumar, Innocent, Vani Vishwanath

This blockbuster sequel of Ramji Rao Speaking, which is helmed by Mani C Kaappan, narrated the hilarious story of the iconic trio, Balakrishnan, Gopalakrishnan, and Mannar Mathai (played by Saikumar, Mukesh, and Innocent, respectively), who are running a drama troupe. However, the trio’s life changes again after a mysterious woman named Meera, played by Vani Vishwanath, enters their life. This is one of those rare movie sequels, which have more fans than its first part.
