It is quite a downhearted day for the music lovers, as India’s nightingale Lata Mangeshkar sighed her last breath hours back. The legendary singer was admitted to hospital due to deterioration in her health for a few days. She was diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia as well.
She had been the one behind more than a thousand songs, whose soft, sweet and mild voice was a milestone for melodies. Her eight decades in the Indian music industry has earned her many titles as well, including ‘Nightingale of India’ and ‘Queen of Melody’.
Lata Ji, who started her career with the Marathi industry, sang her debut song ‘Naachu Yaa Gade Saair Mani Haus Bhaari’ for a 1942 movie, which was unfortunately dropped from the movie. Not giving up, she sang ‘Natali Chaitraachi Navalaai’ in another movie, which could be considered as one of her earliest works. Her debut in Hindi music was with the song ‘Mata Ek Sapoot Ki Duniya Badal De Tu’, for the 1943 Marathi film Gajaabhaau.
