Baba supports Sourabh in his continued opposition to the institute's love jihad and anti-national protests. In 2014, he defied the university administration's complete left-wing rule, defeating the majority left-wing party to secure his position as joint secretary of the institution. Despite opposition from JNU's left-wing student body, the government declared in 2019 that student union president Arushi Ghosh has decided to increase tuition. The students who were in favour of the fee increase, including those from the ABVP who were trying to defend them, were severely attacked. Later, with the support of local organisations, members of the ABVP banded together and violently suppressed the left wing at JNU.
