25 years of Kunchacko Boban: 7 movies of Malayalam cinema’s evergreen star to look out for

Kunchacko Boban rode a red Splendor motorcycle into the hearts of the Malayalam film audience 25 years ago with Aniyathipravu. While Fazil’s romantic drama went on to be an industry hit at the time, it delivered one of the most beloved actors we have today. Having seen highs and lows across his career, the actor has now reinvented himself and is one of the busiest stars in the industry. As Chackochan celebrates 25 years as an actor, here are seven of his upcoming movies to look forward to.

Ottu

Directed by Fellini T P, this drama thriller stars Kunchacko Boban and Tamil actor Arvind Swami in the lead. The movie, which is touted to be a story about two friends and their bond with elements of a road movie set on the backdrop of Mangalore and Mumbai, has already wrapped its filming. The makers have also released a song titled Orey Nokkil from the movie, where a stylish Chakochan can be seen romancing Eesha Reba.

Ariyippu

Kunchacho Boban is once again joining hands with fan-favourite director Mahesh Narayanan after Take Off. Titled Ariyippu, the film written by Mahesh, started rolling back in December last year and wrapped in February. While information about the film is scarce, it will also feature actor Divya Prabha in an important role.

Nna Thaan Case Kodu

Helmed by Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25 director Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, Nna Thaan Case Kodu has already impressed fans with the first look poster which was released in March. The actor also told OTTplay that he will be playing a never-seen-before role and will also speak a new dialect. The social satire also stars Gayathrie Shankar and Rajesh Madhavan in important roles.

Grrr

Grrr was announced by the makers way back in August 2020 and will see Kunchacko Boban team up with Suraj Venjaramoodu. The film is directed by Jayakrishnan, who last impressed with the horror thriller Ezra. The director had earlier stated that Grrr will be a slice-of-life comedy about interpersonal relationships. The film will also have a lot of interactions with animals and the Thiruvananthapuram zoo is a major location.

Enthada Saji

The makers of this comedy released the film’s motion poster on Boban’s birthday. The major attraction of the movie is that Boban will reunite with actor Jayasurya for a film. Bankrolled by Listin Stephen under the banner of Magic Frames, the film is helmed by Godfy Babu. The two actors have teamed up to produce some memorable movies such as Swapnakoodu, Three Kings and Gulumal.

Padmini

Senna Hegde, who impressed with Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam is directing Padmini with Kunchacko Boban in the lead. The director talked to OTTplay and called the film a “pretty cool entertainer, no nonsense fun film”. While Senna is currently working on 1744 WA starring Sharafudheen, Padmini is expected to start rolling only later this year.

Pakalum Paathiravum

Directed by Ajai Vasudev, Pakalum Paathiravum stars Kunchacko Boban and Rajisha Vijayan in the lead. The makers have already announced the film’s wrap and also released the song titled Ulakam Neeye from the movie. The makers are yet to announce a release date for the movie.
