LIC aka Love Insurance Corporation update - this seasoned filmmaker joins Vignesh Shivan's rom-com

The production of filmmaker Vignesh Shivan's upcoming movie titled LIC, which stands for Love Insurance Corporation, is gong on at a brisk pace. The shooting is now taking place at a private property in Coimbatore.

Sources within the industry suggest that the filmmakers have roped in a seasoned filmmaker to play a key role in the movie. Filmmaker and politician Seeman is said to have joined the sets of the movie in Coimbatore.

Seeman is said to be playing the role of the hero's father. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited.

A romantic comedy

Billed as a romantic comedy, LIC stars actor-filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan in the lead role. The movie is expected to follow the style of typical Vignesh rom-coms like Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal.

LIC stars Krithi Shetty as the female lead, with SJ Suryah playing a key role. Speculations suggest that Nayanthara, Vignesh's wife, might also make an appearance in the movie in an extended cameo. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.

Bankrolled by Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio, the film will feature a musical score by Anirudh Ravichander.

Unfulfilled desire

After the 2022 release of Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, Vignesh was initially set to direct Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar in his next project. The collaboration was officially confirmed, with Lyca Productions backing the venture.

However, creative differences led to Vignesh being removed from the project after extensive pre-production work. "It was disappointing," expressed Vignesh, citing dissatisfaction from the producer's side with the second half of his script. Despite a positive rapport with Ajith, certain script alterations were demanded, which Vignesh couldn't comply with.

"My producer wasn’t satisfied with the second half of my script. But that is what my story is about, and I cannot change it. With Ajith sir, things were all fine, but from the producer’s side, they demanded that some things could be different in the script. However, I couldn’t do it,” Vignesh had said.

Subsequently, Vignesh embarked on the journey of LIC with Pradeep.
