Leo writer seeks divine blessing for Thalapathy Vijay starrer. See photo

Filmmaker Rathna Kumar has sought divine blessing for the upcoming movie Leo, which stars Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. Rathna Kumar has co-written the movie with director Lokesh Kanagaraj and filmmaker Deeraj Vaidy of Jil Jung Juk fame.

Rathna Kumar shared the picture of him in front of the Pathinettampadi, the 18 divine steps before reaching the sanctum sanctorum of the Sabarimala temple. He captioned the picture, "For Leo."

Even though Rathna Kumar has yet to score a big solo hit at the box office front, he has been part of several blockbusters. He has been the regular collaborator of director Lokesh Kanagaraj. He also co-wrote Lokesh's last two Master and Vikram, which were the biggest hits in the history of Tamil cinema.

And with Leo, Rathna Kumar is poised to add another blockbuster to his credits.

Rathna Kumar's next directorial outing

So far Rathna Kumar has written and directed four movies, including Bench Talkies, Meyaadha Maan, Aadai and Gulu Gulu. While all had managed to garner him some critical fame, none clicked with the masses. However, he has proven himself as a successful screenwriter with credits like Vikram and Leo.

After Leo, Rathna Kumar is said to direct Raghava Lawrence in his next movie. It's said that Lokesh will write the screenplay and produce the movie. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited.

Leo, the most-awaited movie of 2023

Leo is Lokesh Kangaraj's second collaboration with Vijay after the blockbuster hit Master. Lokesh called Leo a "100 per cent Lokesh movie," suggesting that he enjoyed full creative freedom to make the movie he wanted to make after the success of Vikram, starring Kamal Haasan.

Lokesh has promised that Leo will be an incredible action movie, but has refused to neither confirm nor deny whether it will be part of his cinematic universe.

Besides Vijay, Leo boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, Sandy Master, and Mathew Thomas among others.

Leo is due in cinemas on October 19.
