In the battle of Leo vs Leo, there’s no prizes for guessing who will emerge winner. In this case, it appears that Thalapathy Vijay’s latest, the Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed Leo, which released in theatres on October 19, is headed for its OTT outing. According to the buzz in industry circles, Leo will be available on Netflix on November 16. This, it seems, is why an animated film by the same name has vacated the November 17 slot on the same streamer. Until a few days ago, an animated musical comedy led by Adam Sandler on vocal talent, was to release on Netflix on November 17, but then the streamer moved it ahead by a few days, which make the Thalapathy Leo on November 16 rumours a more credible possibility.
Vijay’s film Leo, which released for Dasara and had a decent box office outing, follows his character Parthipan, a family man and café owner, who is mistaken for a presumed dead former gangster Leo Das. Leo has a rather murky past, which Parthi claims is not him. But is Parthi really who he says he is, or is his shady past catching up with him? This forms the crux of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s action flick, which boasts an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Madonna Sebastian, Priya Anand, among many others.
Adam Sandler’s animated musical comedy Leo has the Hollywood actor voice a septuagenarian lizard, who has lived all his life as a class pet and finds his calling as therapist for the elementary school students he comes across, imparting valuable lessons he’s seen and imbibed over the decades to the impressionable young minds. Co-written by Sandler, Leo has been directed by Robert Smigel, Robert Marianetti and David Wachtenheim and has Bill Burr, Cecily Strong, Jason Alexander, Jo Koy, Stephanie Hsu, and Sadie, Sunny and Jackie Sandler on the voice talent credits. The film is now releasing on November 21.
