The much-hyped project of Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj, Leo, has finally dropped in theatres today. The film opened to packed houses and the FDFS began at 4am in the states of Karnataka and Kerala. However, the first show in Tamil Nadu has begun only at 9am and is underway. Meanwhile, those who watched the show in the neighbouring states have begun sharing their views.

Leo social media reviews
Social media has been abuzz with reactions to the movie. Going by the reviews online, it looks like Leo is a one-man show with Thalapathy scorching the screen. Fans have been calling Leo one of Vijay's career-best performances. They have already hinted at a LCU connection in the film, with the reference of his previous film, Vikram, starring Kamal Haasan.

However, it looks like the film has faltered in the second half. Many viewers said that though the first half is terrific, the film lags to a great extent in the second half. A few others have called it the weakest film in Lokesh's career graph and wished the director the very best for his next film. The villain track is said to be weak.

Film industry tracker Manobala Vijayabalan wrote, "Tried to be a lion but ended up as a cat. Despite a promising premise and some commendable efforts from Joseph Vijay and cast, the end result is a disappointment. Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo fails to live up to the expectations or unnecessary hype. Also, the film does not maintain a consistent level of engagement, leading to moments of boredom that detract from the overall viewing experience. The film is nowhere near Vikram or Kaithi, it is the weakest in Lokesh's career. A mediocre effort (sic).”

Fans compare it with Jailer
Meanwhile, many have gone on to compare the film with Superstar Rajinikanth's recent outing Jailer. A user wrote, "Very bad second half.. He just made a mockery of his own LCU and diluted its craze.. not even a single scene worth mentioning in second half.. Forget about Vikram & Khaidi.. this is not even in close to Jailer.. hugee oppurtunity wasted. Big dissappointment LEO !! (sic)."

A few others wrote that while Jailer had only 6 mass scenes, every scene in Leo is mass.
