Thalapathy Vijay's Leo is set to take over cinemas across Kerala. Vijay commands a huge fan following in Kerala and it seems to have only grown in size in the last few years. The fervour surrounding Leo has reached a fever pitch, with an unprecedented demand for tickets statewide.

Videos showing massive crowds thronging theatres across the state to buy tickets for Leo have surfaced online. The frenzy is not just limited to certain urban areas, but it has been observed across states. The theatres in Thrissur, Kochi, Trivandrumpuram, Kozhikode and various other regions, have reported an unprecedented surge in ticket requests.

Leo to create history at Kerala box office

According to reports, Leo will have more than 1,000 screens on its opening day in Kerala. The shows will begin as early as 4 AM shows.

The advance booking for Leo is very bullish with the movie set to cross the opening day records of Kannada superstar Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 and Mohanlal's Odiyan in the state.

So far KGF 2 has held the record for the highest opening day gross with Rs 7.3 crore, followed closely by Odiyan with Rs 6.8 crore. Thalapathy Vijay's Beast currently stands in third place with a Rs 6.6 crore opening.

And going by the early trends, the trade predicts that Leo will not shatter the records of previous blockbusters, but will establish benchmarks in the industry. Leo is expected to make its debut at the Kerala box office by grossing more than Rs 10 crore. If this happens, Leo will become the first movie in the history of Kerala to achieve this feat.

Not just in Kerala, Leo is also creating new box office records in Karnataka. The movie is expected to become the first film in Vijay's career to gross Rs 100 crore from its worldwide ticket sales on its opening day.
