Thalapathy Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj, the celebrated actor-director duo joined hands for the action thriller Leo, in 2022. The movie, which marked the actor-director duo’s second collaboration after Master, emerged as a massive success, despite receiving mixed reviews. Leo, which belongs to LCU, was expected to have a sequel in the future. Even though Thalapathy Vijay has now announced his decision to bid goodbye to films, Lokesh Kanagaraj is still hoping to make Leo 2, someday.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is still hoping that he will be able to make a sequel to Leo some day in the future, made some interesting revelations. The filmmaker, who addressed the media at a recent event, suggested he would like to name the second installment ‘Parthiban’, which is the name of the family man character portrayed by Thalapathy Vijay in the film. The director’s revelation has left the actor’s fans hopeful about a potential sequel, in the future.
Many cinephiles, who believe that the first half of Leo was fantastic, felt that Vijay delivered one of the finest performances of his acting career as Parthiban, in the film. Even though the flashback portions featuring the titular character Leo received mixed reactions from the audiences, Parthiban and his family’s story won many hearts. Thalapathy Vijay’s extraordinary onscreen chemistry with Trisha Krishnan, and his camaraderie with the child artists, were indeed a treat to watch. But the movie was let down by the flashback, which narrates Leo’s bizarre backstory.
Thalapathy Vijay played the role of Parthiban, a cafe owner and complete family man, and Leo Das, a mafia person, in the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial. Trisha Krishnan plays the role of Parthiban’s wife Sathya in the film. Leo features a stellar star cast including Sanjay Dutt, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Arjun Sarja, George Maryan, Priya Anand, Mathew Thomas, Madonna Sebastian, Babu Antony, and many others in supporting roles. Anirudh Ravichander composed songs and original score for the film, which is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
