The film is a classic crime thriller that delves into the secret history of 1960s London and the extraordinary events that cemented the Kray twins' infamy. It is an adaptation of the book The Profession of Violence: The Rise and Fall of the Kray Twins by John Pearson.
Directed by Brian Helgeland, Legend stars. The film is slated to be added to the movie catalog on Lionsgate Play’s official platform, with a release date expected in October. Viewers can also watch it through an OTTplay Premium subscription once it is available.
Tom Hardy on Legend
Tom Hardy, known for his wide range of roles, took on the challenge of playing both Reggie and Ron Kray in Legend, with Ron identifying as gay. In an interview with Female First, Hardy shared his thoughts on portraying a gay man, explaining that he didn’t overthink it. He said, “I didn’t even think about it. I don’t think it needs playing, that’s that. Ronnie was gay, does that make sense? If I thought about it, then that would give me pause to think about it, but I just had to get on with doing what I’m doing, which is my job.”
He further elaborated, “I think if you start playing anything, then you start to miss the point of what it is you’re supposed to do. What was complicated is that we don’t know if Reggie was gay as well or not, that’s questionable.”
