The highly anticipated psychological, thriller film Leave the World Behind will be unveiling its tale of a near-death scenario in less than a week on streaming giant Netflix. This Julia Roberts film also stars Ethan Hawke and Mahershala Ali in promising roles. Here’s all you need to know about the upcoming suspenseful flick.

When and where to watch

You can watch this chilling, slow-burn movie on December 8, exactly a week later on Netflix. With a theatrical release in November, the apocalyptic film is all set to unfold its intriguing tale on the streaming platform.

Trailer and storyline

Adapted from Rumaan Alam’s novel, Leave The World Behind film revolves around a distressed family whose luxurious getaway in a rental home brings their normal life to a halt and takes a twisted turn. Amidst battling the cyberattacks and destruction of technical devices, the appearance of two strangers on the doorstep will raise the tension in this upcoming thriller.  

Previously, Netflix gave a sneak peek into the lives of the family who are unaware of the danger looming over them. It also hints at t he chance encounter with strange creatures. Two families' lives get entangled as a weekend goes terribly wrong.

Cast and director

Written, directed, and produced by Mr Robot fame director Sam Esmail, this disaster film stars Academy Award winner Julia Roberts in the role of Amanda, a dedicated mother and wife. While Ethan Hawke plays a father and Amanda’s husband Clay. Other notable characters are played by the talented Mahershala Ali and Kevin Bacon.

The series will be premiering on Netflix on December 8.
