Films are a business where one loses more often they earn, where trends, tastes keep changing and it’s hard to predict the fate of any project, regardless of the names involved or the scale of the investment. Barely 15-20 films out of over 200 films are profitable in Telugu cinema and one must play their cards wisely to survive in the industry in the longer run.
Leading producer Abhishek Nama, the founder of Abhishek Pictures, has taken a dig at Vijay Deverakonda’s recent gesture of donating Rs 1 crore to his needy fans (announced as part of Kushi’s success meet in Vizag). The producer/distributor reminded the Kushi star that he had suffered losses to the tune of Rs 8 crore while distributing his romance-drama World Famous Lover.

Yours, Abhishek Pictures.” the production house shared on social media yesterday.
Vijay Deverakonda’s fans were quick to jump in defence of the star, stating that it was Abhishek Pictures’ financial decision to distribute it and Vijay had no say in it. They called out his ‘double standards’, reminding his words in a previous interview where he spoke of suffering losses after distributing Varudu, which he confessed was a ‘judgement’ issue. ‘Why the partisan treatment now ?’fans asked.
Some questioned Abhishek Nama if his response would have been the same if he had lost out money on projects involving an industry kid. “You had also distributed Arjun Reddy previously. Did you share your profits then,” another user questioned. Produced by KS Rama Rao, directed by Kranthi Madhav, World Famous Lover also starred Raashii Khanna, Aishwarya Rajesh, Catherine Tresa and is now streaming on Netflix.
