While Coachella hasn't been as prominent in recent years, this year appeared to be no exception to its slower pace. However, the performance of the K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM seemed to jolt everyone awake, though for all the wrong reasons. Their appearance at Coachella 2024 has ignited a debate among fans, with many critiquing their vocal abilities.
The controversy surrounding the group's performance encompasses various aspects, including song selection, stage presence, and overall execution. While some fans have lauded the group, others have expressed disappointment, feeling that the performance fell short of expectations. Unfortunately, amid these criticisms, some individuals have stooped so low as to issue rape and death threats to the young girls, who only made their debut in 2022.
Their fandom, FEARNOT, has remained steadfast in their support, with many questioning whether this is how people wish to preserve the well-being of young idols making their debut on such a grand stage for the first time.
Despite the barrage of criticism, some of which seems unwarranted and stems from individuals simply disliking the group's selection for Coachella 2024, LE SSERAFIM seized the event, delivering an electrifying performance. They performed 10 songs in just 40 minutes, showcasing their versatility and energy.
Kicking off with fan favourites like "ANTIFRAGILE" and "FEARLESS," they also debuted their unreleased track "1-800-HOT-N-FUN," receiving an enthusiastic response. Additionally, the surprise appearance of musician Nile Rodgers during "UNFORGIVEN" added an extra layer of excitement.
The group also treated fans to performances of "Eve, Psyche, & the Bluebeard's Wife" and "Perfect Night," ending with a heartfelt closing rendition of "Fire in the Belly," leaving fans cheering for more.
The girl group was formed by Source Music under HYBE Labels. It consists of five members: Sakura, Kim Chae-won, Huh Yun-jin, Kazuha, and Hong Eun-chae. Originally a six-member group, Kim Ga-ram departed on July 20, 2022, following the termination of her exclusive contract.
