Latest Kannada OTT releases (December 23 – December 29) - Here is the list of what you can stream on various digital platforms or watch in theatres this week

As the year draws to a close, Kannada movie audiences have a couple of reasons to cheer about. There is one more A-list hero release left and it’s coming 2 and a half years after his last and, another’s successful film is likely to drop on OTT as a Christmas festive special. There is a Kannada-dubbed title that maybe of interest to children, but with Real Star Upendra’s UI, which came out on December 20, doing well, it seems that two Kannada stars will hold the box office in the state this week.
Kiccha Sudeep’s much-awaited 46th film, Max, is finally headed to theatres this week. Ready since last August, the film was delayed for reasons best known to producer Kalaippuli S Thanu. The film’s Kannada version is coming out on Christmas day, with Telugu and Tamil to follow 2 days later.
Max is Sudeep’s nickname in the film. He plays a cop, Arjun Mahakshay, in the action-packed thriller by debutant director Vijay Kartikeyaa. The story transpires in one night and revolves around a particular incident and how Max reacts to it.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s directorial debut, Barroz, has him playing a 400-year-old genie/spirit, assigned to protect Vasco da Gama’s treasure, until the rightful heir stakes claim to it. Originally based on a novel by Jijo Punnoose, the director of India’s first 3D film My Dear Kuttichathan, Barroz was later re-written by Mohanlal and TK Rajeev Kumar. The film will release with a Kannada dubbed version.
Shot entirely in 3D, Barroz’s cast also includes Maya Rao West, Cesar Lorente Raton, Ignacio Mateos, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Guru Somasundaram, Tuhin Menon, among others.

Century Star Shivarajkumar’s Mufti prequel, which had him return to play Bhairathi Ranagal, the crime boss of Ronapura, explored his early days and what drove him to a path of violence for the people of his town. The film had a good theatrical outing and is expected to head to OTT over the Christmas week, bringing cheer to the actor’s fans, considering that he’s currently in the US for surgical intervention as part of his ongoing cancer treatment.
Directed by Narthan, Bhairathi Ranagal also starred Rahul Bose, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Rukmini Vijaykumar, Chaya Singh, Madhu Guruswamy, Babu Hirannaiah, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Avinash, among others.
