This past was one of the most jam-packed ones as far as flms are concerned, with multiple releases from different corners of the world. While Dune: Part Two made the loudest buzz, there was also The Zone Of Interest with its Oscar resume. There were also a couple of releases from the country, which also included the much-spoken-about and very candidly promoted Aamir Khan-produced film Laapataa Ladies. Directed by Kiran Rao, who returned to the director’s chair after 13 long years, the movie is set in the heartland of the country, a slice-of-life comedy of errors that has a message while entertaining. While the movie is in theatres right now, the curiosity is around when and on which platform the movie will have a digital premiere.

Laaptaa Ladies is produced by Aamir Khan, who has also been busy promoting the movie alongside Kiran Rao and the cast of the movie includes Sparsh Shrivastava, Nitanshi Goel, and Pratibha Ranta. The movie was released on the big screen on March 1, after making a loud buzz at multiple festivals and garnering some very positive reviews all across.
The movie, after it ends its theatrical run, should stream on Netflix, as the poster has the logo of the streaming giant on it. But the giant even shared its 2024 slate and it turns out it didn’t include the poster for Laaptaa Ladies, which raises questions.
However, while the movie should ideally be streamed on Netflix considering the mention of the streamer on the poster, the reports have now revealed that the makers have struck a deal with Jio Studios to stream the movie on Jio Cinema at a surprising remuneration. However, there is no confirmation of this rumour. So while Netflix has the highest chance to house the Kiran Rao directorial, one should wait till the official announcement makes its way to the mainstream.

Meanwhile, at the domestic box office on the wrap of day one, Laapataa Ladies has managed to make only Rs 0.65 crore, and that is a very slow start for the movie. However, it is a film that needs good word of mouth and has the potential to grow if it is in favour of the film. It will be interesting to see how the film grows with the audience.
