Actor and filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran is gearing up for his third directorial, and the second instalment in the Lucifer trilogy, L2- Empuraan. Starring Mohanlal in the lead role, the film is all set to hit the big screens on March 27, Thursday. The team, including Prithviraj and Mohanlal, has been aggressively promoting the film across the country. In one such promotional interview, Prithviraj opened up about how direction is a “financially senseless decision” for him. Keep reading to know what he said.
After directing Mohanlal in the highly successful film Lucifer, Prithviraj and the actor once again collaborate for the second instalment in the film franchise, titled Empuraan. Prithviraj, who has directed Lucifer and Bro Daddy, will be making his third directorial with Empuraan.
Speaking about direction, Prithviraj said, “Even my car and house are on EMI. All of us have the same problems. Of course, I am not going to sit here and lie, telling I don’t know how to pay EMIs for the next month. Directing a film is a financially senseless decision for me. Because when you are directing a film with such a scale, you need to spend about 2 years. I had to refuse many acting commitments and other language offers. I make a lot more money as an actor, and I am a reasonably highly paid actor in Kerala. But as a director, how much ever I get paid, it will not balance that.”
Prithviraj also said that the lifestyle he got used to after being a successful actor, there are requirements for money, which comes out from acting stints.
Headlined by Mohanlal, Empuraan features a massive star cast, including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Abhimanyu Singh, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Jerome Flynn, Indrajith, Kaarthikeyaa Dev, Kishore Kumar G, Suraj Venjaramood, and Fazil. Empuraan is written by Murali Gopy. Sujith Vaassudev is cranking the camera, while Akhilesh Mohan is the editor.
